My name is Deanna and I love POODLES in all sizes. This is my second account where I primarily breed Miniature Poodles. On my first account I have Standards and Toys mainly but lots of other breeds too. I'm not active there recently.

My first real life dog Lady was a brown mini and my companion for 16 years. She was a gift from my uncle when I was 9 years old. It took me many years to get over her loss. Much later Monty came into my life when I already had a family on my own. He is my second mini, cafe au lait colour (faded brown in FP). My little monkey is a very active dog. He loves long walks in the countryside and playing with his ball in the garden. He knows a few tricks and is very eager to do them for a treat.

Colour breeding genetics

My goal is to breed Miniature Poodles with excellent health in solid colours. Brown is my all-time favourite. I love its warm, earthy colour and magical amber eyes. I am very happy about the opportunity to be able to control the colour shades for future breeding. I decided to work towards the variant 4 and 5 in most colours.

The B gene is responsible for the eumelanin pigment. The vibrant black and brown have several 'faded' versions. I will use the theory of the progressive greying gene (G) with incomplete dominance. I don't want to breed dogs with the recessive allele pair of the dilution gene (dd), it is very rare in poodles. However, to get the lightest brown shades for the silver beige colour, I need this sequence: bb dd GG.

The extension gene (E) regulates the two pigments eumelanin (black/brown) and pheomelanin (red/yellow) in the dog's coat. The recessive allele pair (ee) allows only the pheomelanin pigment. The colour intensity gene (C) with its four alleles makes it possible to have various shades of the pheomelanin pigment.

In real life white is not dominant over every colour in poodles. Therefore, I won't use the silvering gene (Sl) to breed white poodles but the silver allele pair (cwcw) of the colour intensity gene. The game's colour variants are mostly light cream so I will replace the pictures with white ones.

The phantom poodle with its distinctive 'tan' markings on the face and legs are so cheerful and special to me. I hope to have some of these impressive dogs in my kennel. I want to avoid masking because it spoils the look. The ideal gene sequence is: EE kk atat.

Next to solid colours (SS) I would like to breed a few dogs with piebald markings (spsp) because it is the most common pattern in particolour poodles. I don't plan to keep the irish markings (sisi) in the future.

My chosen dog sports

On my previous account, I mainly focused on colour breeding and didn't give much thought to sports or stats. I would like to change that. First, I will narrow the possibilities to these six sports, then I will try to breed dogs with coordinating stats to boost their sport carrier from the beginning. I have a database where I can follow the inheritance of aptitudes among other things. When I choose a puppy from a litter, I try to take several things into consideration. It is not easy and often time consuming.
