Welcome!

This kennel is focused on the native Japanese breeds. Though I only have two breeds/projects running currently, I hope to expand in the near future! I started with my Shikoku project in 2018 as it was a “breed in need” at the time, but went on a long hiatus from Furry Paws shortly after the project started. I picked up the project again when I returned in 2023 and it has been my main focus since. I’ve really enjoyed researching the breed and gained interest in the other Nihon Ken breeds, making the decision to use that group of dogs as my kennel’s future projects. I haven’t yet completed any of my projects, so I’m still learning as I go!

Note for sellers/breeders viewing my kennel: I have a lot of dogs “leftover” from before my hiatus (including some from “nostalgia litters” from when I returned from hiatus) that may have been bred more than twice/at low level or are otherwise poor quality. Keep in mind that these do not represent how I intend breed/compete dogs now! My competing females will only be bred twice, at the end of their careers. If you see me bidding on a litter of yours, I intend to use that puppy for competition and levelling!

Generational Notes

G1:Dogs bought at random from the store (no retries for better genes). Bred with the “worst to best” pairing method, but no attention to litter size or stats.
G2:Generation contained 5 storebought dogs. Many were bred back to G1 dogs due to the Male:Female ratio.
G3:First generation after hiatus. Finally started considering litter size genes.
G4:First 0hh dog born. Decided to work towards chax4 but would later change this. Beginning to attempt securing aptitudes. The generation was split into two for breeding: HT/Fr/M aptitudes and charisma carriers.
G5:Downsized to a smaller generation. First generation to have no “l” litter size genes.
G6:Swapped focus to Schutzhund and inx4 as both traits were a lot more prevalent in this gen and the previous.

Generational Notes

G1:I was somewhat selective while buying these from the store, only keeping dogs that carried -la. I got pretty lucky during this and got a lot of dogs with lala without needing to buy too many. Bred to maximise lala.
G2:lala nearly secured. Kept more females than males to increase generation size in G3.
G3:Locked litters currently, waiting until I renew elite to take two from each litter
