About Me

I was born and raised in BC, Canada, but I moved to Newfoundland in 2012. While I was still in BC, I studied History for 5 years with an unfinished minor in Psychology. My focus in history was on WWI, WWII and the inter-war period, with an emphasis on Canada and Great Britain, though I have also done significant course work in Canadian history as a whole (colonization through to the modern era), and Britain as a whole (medieval ages, modern era). Additionally, I've taken a smattering of courses in medieval history (Europe, broad strokes) and Russian history (7th century to the fall of the Romanov Empire). When I moved to Newfoundland, I came to study engineering at Memorial University of Newfoundland. I met some great people and had a lot of fun in the program in my first year and a half, and during my first work term, but during my fourth semester (second semester of Electrical discipline), I discovered that the things I had enjoyed about the core year, and the things I enjoyed about electronics in high school, were not at all what the program was preparing me for, nor were there going to be any jobs for me in this area, with this degree, doing what I loved about electronics. Thus, I took some time off and switched to part time studies in Computer Science.

Outside of school, I love to read and write, and I enjoy any activity that gets me programming and designing websites. Combined with my love of animals, this naturally lead me to sim games (particularly of the non-automated variety; message me if you'd like to try those out!). I've been involved in sim games of varying types and animals since 1999, and I've staffed and even founded non-automated games since 2001. I'm currently (very slowly) working on programming my own automated horse & dog game. You can be sure I'll advertise it on the “other sites” board when it's ready!

I love all animals, but horses are by far my favourite, with cats and dogs coming in tied for second. I'm also very interested in genetics (and science in general), so I love guessing and predicting genotypes. The Genetics Genie game here is great! Some day I hope to earn the award for 1,000 correct answers in a row. So far I usually mess up around 250 or so. (It's usually a careless mistake, too, like not seeing the Slsl until it's too late!)

Westveil's Breeding Program

In general, the goal of my breeding program is to produce 24HH lala dogs that are top performers in breed-appropriate sports. I'm willing to train my dogs in any sport they're suited for except racing and schutzhund, though my preferences are for agility, herding, flyball, pulling, water sports, and rally-o.

Beyond that, my goals differ from breed to breed.
