Haven Kennels

About Haven Kennels

Welcome to Haven Kennels [HK]. I am moving forward on my GSD line. As well as working with Retrievers (Golden and Labrador), and working with them to achieve prime eventers. These two lines will follow the same guidelines as my GSD line, but I anticipate it moving much quicker, due to the fact that I will not be breeding for color (mostly...). There will probably still be several other breeds running around the kennel. Such as, Border Collies, Dobermans, Greenland Dogs, American Bulldog, Koolies, etc. These are small project lines and not my main breeding goals. However, my ADD/ADHD knows no bounds, and I cannot resist buying the pretty doggies.

My lines are just now taking off, however here at Haven Kennels we strive to provide top quality canines and each pair is bred with the intention to improve the next generation. Here at [HK] every line is compromised entirely of dogs born in Haven Kennels since Gen 1. The first generation consists of Gen 1 dogs both imported or purchased from the market, but no outside dogs will ever be used past generation one.

Our ultimate goal is to produce top quality eventing dogs that consistently improve each generation. With the German Shepherd line the event is Schutzhund, with an emphasis on the dog's intelligence. With the Retrievers the main end event is Field Trials, with an emphasis on strong stamina. There will be a sub-line of retrievers with an agility boost goal. The agility retriever line will be targeted towards being sporting dogs with aptitude for agility, dock diving, etc. Currently our dogs run in several varying events, but in the future they will work only in these chosen events.

Breeding

Studs for Public Use: I know there's nothing more frustrating than trying to find that one dog with the right genotype to break through with your lines. Therefore, I do offer all my Gen 1 studs (under 100) to the public for breeding at the price of $1,000 per breeding. If there is a stud you're interested in that is not currently marked for breeding, message me. Include in the message the stud you're interested in and the link to the female you propose. There is no minimal breeding level, however please make sure your female is fully cared for before you request a breeding. Brush your dang dog and feed it before trying to breed it!

My Breeding Goals: Females of my line are preferably only bred twice in their lives. Optimally at age 80+, after hopefully long and sucessful eventing career. However, in the case of purchased dogs, if they have been bred prior to me taking ownership then I will breed them only once around age 100. Only males may be bred more than twice, especially if they are public studs. Each breeding is carefully planned to ensure the best possible quality. Each pair is bred with several end goals in mind.

About Shadow

If you got this far and care to read about me, you're a weirdo. Jk. I actually am a weirdo though. I'm a twenty-something year old woman with a lifelong obsession for all things animal, as well as a serious addiction to reading. IRL I own a small farm built from the bare land. I somehow convinced myself that I can afford to own 3 horses, 6 Nigerian Dwarf Goats, like 70+ chickens, some Rex Rabbits, a few ducks, 4 hyper farm dogs, and one seriously sassy cat that rules us all. If at any given time I'm not playing animal related games, I am wrangling escaped horses and goats, and crying over all my baby trees they ate. I also compete in Dock Diving with my people reactive mixed breed (mostly Lab and Australian Shepherd) farm dog Maple. She currently holds her Senior Dock Title after her first season. We also dabble with agility and hope to take some titles there as well some day soon. I also plan to begin taking herding classes with her so she can help me wrangle the escaped goats, so I have more time for reading and games.
