Estrella del Norte is a breeding and showing kennel with emphasis on exceptional genetics and competitive success. The sole breed in the kennel, at this point, is the Catahoula Leopard Dog, but we are planning to expand to other breeds.

Breeding

All the dogs presently in the kennel are either founders or second generation dogs. Though colors and stats are important, the primary goal in our breeding right now is excellent genetics, the foundation for superior dogs. Once we've developed a solid line of 24HH Catahoulas, we plan to tailor the breeding to fit other specifications, such as stats for our preferred sport--tracking--as well as the more desirable traits, like large litter sizes and rare colors. As our kennel progresses, there will be higher level and more specific genetic requirements for breeding.

Showing

The main sport for our Catahoulas is tracking, a sports they perform in real life. Intelligence, speed, and stamina are our emphasis. All of the dogs are entered in the maximum number of shows possible each day.
